Hello, friends.
It is a beautiful November day and I'm fast at work in the studio.
I've recently completed an original acrylic painting depicting a pair of redhead ducks, which I plan to submit for a juried competition this spring... and that's just the start of things.
I'm also working on two additional paintings, both of which I hope to complete before spring. The first is another competition piece, depicting a great gray owl, which will be completed before the end of February.
The second is a painting of a westslope cutthroat trout, which was commissioned by a dear friend of mine. This painting is a personal one, as it depicts one of the first cutthroat trout I ever caught and it brings back many fond memories for me. As an angler and supporter of cold water fishery conservation, I'm also deeply concerned about the welfare of the westslope cutthroat and indeed, all cutthroat trout in western North America. This painting, for me, is not only a way to pay tribute to a dear friend, but also a way to pay tribute to some of the most spectacular and beautiful fish I have ever seen.
Please stay tuned - I will post pictures of these painting as I am able.
Warm Regards,
Daniel Burish
