Hello, friends.
January 2009 is nearly over, and it feels like 2008 disappeared in a blur.
The past year found me away from the studio quite often. Like many aspiring artists, I have a day job that often requires much of my time. I've made the most of my opportunities, however, and 2008 wasn't a complete loss.
I placed the finishing touches on an original acrylic painting depicting a pair of redhead ducks. I have just released a limited edition of 50 giclee prints of this painting.
In addition, I have also released a second, limited edition of Giving Chase. The first edition of six was printed shortly after I had completed the original. At the time, I wasn't certain how the painting would be received. I have been pleasantly surprised with the warm reception. Thank you to all who have shown your support!
My latest painting, entitled Morning Visitor, has just been completed. It will be on display in early February.
In my previous post, I mentioned that I was working on a painting of a westslope cutthroat trout, which was commissioned by a dear friend of mine. This painting is still in progress, but often, painting can be a bit of a challenging journey of discovery; needless to say, I have had to return to the drawing board a couple of times. I'm optimistic that I will get it right this time! This painting is special to me - not only is it emblematic of a cherished friendship, but it is a powerful personal reminder of how precious a resource these trout are. As an angler and supporter of cold water fishery conservation, I'm deeply concerned about the welfare of the westslope cutthroat and indeed, all cutthroat trout in western North America. This painting, for me, is not only a way to pay tribute to a dear friend, but also a way to pay tribute to some of the most spectacular and beautiful fish I have ever seen.
Please stay tuned - I will post pictures of my work as I am able.
Warm Regards,
Daniel Burish
